Devils look to continue winning ways vs. Bruins

NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- It's not often the Boston Bruins give up a lead in the third period.

Jumping in front of the streaking New Jersey Devils will be imperative for the Bruins, particularly on Friday the 13th.

Boston was 26-0-2 when leading after two periods entering Tuesday's contest against the Western Conference-leading San Jose Sharks. After carrying a one-goal advantage into the final session, the Bruins surrendered four tallies in the third en route to a 5-2 loss.

It was the first time in 10 games (6-1-3) Boston failed to earn at least one point as it continues to sit atop the Eastern Conference.

While the Bruins continue to lead the conference, the Devils have done their best to make up ground, closing January with a season-high eight straight wins before dropping a 5-2 decision to the Washington Capitals on February 3.

Given its satanic mascot, it seems only fitting that New Jersey will try to earn its third consecutive win on a day associated with horror movies and hockey-masked killers.

After shutting out the New York Rangers on Monday, the Devils earned their third win in four games with a 4-2 victory over the lowly New York Islanders on Wednesday.
