Torrid Canucks look for more success against Stars

DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks have seemingly made their skid a thing of the past.

Looking to extend their winning streak to five games, the Canucks visit the Dallas Stars on Friday.

Vancouver, which also won four in a row from November 19-24, has done a valiant job easing the pain of a season-high, eight-game losing streak. The Canucks also dropped 10 of 11 from January 2-31.

Since then, they have not missed a beat - and Thursday's thrilling 4-3 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes provided more evidence.

Henrik Sedin scored a power-play goal to snap a tie midway through the third period as Vancouver scored three times in the session to rally to improve to 2-0-0 on its current three-game trek.

Pavol Demitra and defensemen Alex Edler and Mattias Ohlund also tallied, while Daniel Sedin and blue-liners Kevin Bieksa and Sami Salo each notched two assists and captain Roberto Luongo turned aside 25 shots for the Canucks.

Dallas, meanwhile, fell to the Coyotes, 1-0, on Wednesday after having won seven of its previous eight.

Marty Turco stopped 28 shots for the Stars, who lost in regulation for just the second time in their last 14 home contests (11-2-1).

In making his 24th consecutive start, Turco set the franchise record previously held by Cesare Maniago, who started 23 games in a row for the Minnesota North Stars in 1968-69.
