Shorthanded Sabres visit soaring Flyers

The Sabres will be without All-Star Thomas Vanek for a fifth straight game Thursday, as they take on the surging Philadelphia Flyers.
Drew Stafford netted a pair of power-play goals and Ryan Miller made 27 saves as the Sabres posted a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.
Buffalo improved to 2-2-0 without Vanek, who suffered a fractured jaw during a 3-2 shootout loss to the Ottawa Senators on February 7. The Austrian left wing leads the team with 32
goals and is not expected to return until mid-March at the earliest.
The Flyers have won four of their last five contests, climbing to fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Getting a rare goal while two men down from captain Mike Richards, Philadelphia cruised to a 5-2 victory over the rival New York Rangers on Sunday.
