Sundin returns to Toronto

TORONTO (Ticker) -- Mats Sundin will lead the surging Vancouver Canucks into a very familiar building Saturday.

Sundin will make his first trip to the Air Canada Centre as a member of the Canucks, who will aim for their fourth straight win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 38-year-old Sundin signed with Vancouver during this campaign after spending the previous 13 seasons with the Maple Leafs. The popular Swede left the storied franchise as the club's all-time leader in goals (420) and points (987).

After a slow start with his new club, Sundin has heated up lately, scoring four goals and nine points in the last eight games. His success has translated into wins for the Canucks, who are 7-1-0 over that stretch.

Sundin, who led the Maple Leafs with 32 goals and 78 points last season, had an assist during Vancouver's 4-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Henrik and Daniel Sedin combined for two goals and four assists in that one.

Toronto is coming off Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Nik Antropov netted a pair of goals, Jamal Mayers tallied and Alexei Ponikarovsky had two assists for the Maple Leafs, who have lost six of their last eight contests.
