Capitals host Flyers, hope to keep rolling

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals continue their five-game homestand on Tuesday when they host the Philadelphia Flyers.

Boasting the Eastern Conference's best home record at 24-5-1, Washington owns a 13-point lead over Florida (30-21-8) in the Southeast Division. The Capitals are just seven points back of the top spot in the East behind Boston (40-12-8).

Reigning Hart Trophy winner Alex Ovechkin and Alexander Semin each had a power-play goal and an assist as the Capitals posted a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, improving to 2-1-0 on the stretch of home games. It was Ovechkin's league-leading 43rd goal of the season.

Philadelphia had its three-game winning streak snapped by the Penguins on Saturday, falling 5-4, on its home ice.

Captain Mike Richards scored a shorthanded goal for the third straight game and handed out two assists in the loss. Richards has four goals and three assists over his last three contests.

The teams have split their first two meetings this season.
