Stars try to erase memory of losing streak vs. Kings

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars have finally put an end to their late-season skid. Now, they must turn their attention back to making a playoff run.

Two nights after snapping a five-game losing streak, the Stars get back on the ice for a divisional showdown against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Dallas had seemingly overcome a poor start to the season, surging into the thick of the playoff picture in January and February. However, that hot streak suddenly hit a wall near the end of last month, as a 3-1 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks was the start of a crippling slide.

As unlikely as that was, what was even more unlikely was the way the Stars got back on track. On Tuesday night, they went on the road and toppled the powerful San Jose Sharks, 4-1 - just the third team all season to defeat the Sharks in regulation on their home ice.

James Neal scored a pair of goals and Mike Modano added a goal and an assist to lead the way.

The Kings, meanwhile, have dropped four straight. However, they have claimed two of three meetings with Dallas this campaign.
