Slumping Sharks look to bounce back at home
Mar 5, 2009 - 11:16 AM Minnesota (30-27-5) at San Jose (42-11-9), 10:30 p.m. ESTSAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The San Jose Sharks hope to return to the win column when they host the Minnesota Wild on Thursday.
San Jose has dropped three of its last four and has only totaled seven goals over its past five contests.
Boasting the league's best home record at 26-3-3, the Sharks were soundly beaten, 4-1, on their home ice by the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. Joe Thornton netted the lone tally on the power play for San Jose.
Minnesota comes in on a four-game losing streak (0-3-1), dropping the first three contests on its six-game road trip.
Dan Fritsche and defenseman Marek Zidlicky each tallied as the Wild lost to the Vancouver Canucks, 4-2, on Tuesday. Minnesota has only scored eight goals over its past five games.
The Sharks made a minor trade during Wednesday's deadline, acquiring Travis Moen and defenseman Kent Huskins from the Anaheim Ducks for goaltender Timo Pielmeier, center Nick Bonino and a conditional fourth-round draft selection.
Moen recorded four goals and seven assists in 63 contests with the Ducks this season.
