Rangers aim for third straight win, host Bruins
Mar 8, 2009 - 2:09 PM Boston (43-14-9) at NY Rangers (33-24-8), 12:30 pm EDTNEW YORK (Ticker) -- The New York Rangers will look for their third consecutive victory when they face the Eastern Conference-leading Boston Bruins on Sunday.
Captain Chris Drury and Nikolai Zherdev each recorded a goal and an assist as the Rangers posted a 4-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Thursday in a battle of Atlantic Division rivals.
Scott Gomez and Markus Naslund also tallied in support of All-Star Henrik Lundqvist's 28-save performance for the Rangers, who improved to 2-1-1 under coach John Tortorella.
"The last four games have been pretty good," Lundqvist said. "We have been more active; skating more. We start to play defense right away when we lose the puck. We create more chances and we play better defensively. I think guys enjoy playing the system. They are more involved and feel like they can use their speed."
Mark Recchi scored his first two goals since being acquired at the trade deadline as the Bruins held off the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-3, on Saturday.
Playing his second game since moving from the Tampa Bay Lightning to Boston on Wednesday, the 41-year-old Recchi registered his 14th and 15th goals of the season.
