Harvick wins Busch Camping World 200 from pole
Jun 30, 2007 - 10:16 PM LOUDON, New Hampshire (Ticker) -- Kevin Harvick became the 21st winner in as many NASCAR Busch Series races at New Hampshire International Speedway on Saturday after he captured the Camping World 200.Harvick, the defending series champion who started from the pole in a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, finally won a Busch race on the "Magic Mile," having finished second on three previous occasions.
It was Harvick's 28th career Busch victory, earning him $55,250. His average speed was 100.669 miles per hour.
Harvick led 165 laps and took the lead for good from Matt Kenseth with 29 laps to go. Kenseth gambled on his final pit stop, taking only right-side tires on his Ford Fusion to inherit the lead. But Harvick took four fresh tires and quickly passed him on the restart.
Current series points leader and defending race champion Carl Edwards, who pulled within a bumper of Harvick in the final laps, brought his Ford home second.
Edwards now has a commanding 809-point lead over David Reutimann in the series point standings. Reutimann took the checkered flag eighth in his Toyota Camry.
Kenseth finished third, with the Chevrolets of Denny Hamlin and Tony Stewart coming across the finish line in fourth and fifth, respectively.
