Frizell re-signs with St George Illawarra
Sep 18, 2016 - 8:05 AM NSW back-rower Tyson Frizell has signed a contract extension with St George Illawarra that will keep him at the NRL club until at least the end of the 2020 season.Frizell was off contract with the Dragons at the end of next season, but the club has moved to secure their best player.
The Dragons announced on Sunday that Frizell, who debuted for the Blues in this year's State of Origin series, has signed on with the joint venture for a further three years.
"It was an easy decision for me to make being a local junior and playing for the club these past four seasons so when the opportunity arose I was more than happy to extend my contract," Frizell said.
"It's been a bit of a rollercoaster the past year but hopefully the club is moving forward and I want to be a part of that."
Frizell, who grew up supporting the Dragons, will play for Mal Meninga's Prime Minister's XIII against Papua New Guinea next week. He has played 73 games for the Dragons over the last four years after two seasons with Cronulla.
The signing caps off a good week for the Dragons who also secured the signature of hooker Cameron McInnes from South Sydney on a two-year deal.
