Matterson re-signs with Sydney Roosters
Feb 13, 2017 - 9:12 AM Young utility Ryan Matterson has continued the re-signing spree at the Sydney Roosters, penning a two-year extension with the NRL club.Just over a week after winning the Auckland Nines title, the Roosters announced on Monday that 22-year-old Matterson - who was off contract at the end of this year - will remain with the tri-colours until at least the competion of 2019.
After making his debut on Anzac Day last year, Matterson filled a number of positions including five-eighth, centre and in the backrow as the Roosters laboured to second-last on the ladder.
Matterson ended up playing 15 games and made his representative debut with the City Origin side.
"Ryan's energy and enthusiasm is contagious, and with his great work ethic, I have no doubt that he will only continue to grow over the coming seasons," said Roosters coach Trent Robinson.
Over the past few months, Dylan Napa, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Connor Watson, Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Eloni Vunakece and Joseph Manu have re-signed with the Roosters.
