Keary and Tupou cleared for Roosters
Sep 18, 2017 - 2:04 AM An ill Luke Keary has sent a scare through the Sydney Roosters camp but the five-eighth and winger Daniel Tupou are expected to be cleared for Saturday's NRL grand final qualifier against North Queensland.Keary was sent home from Tricolours training on Monday due to a bout of food poisoning.
He was set to rejoin his teammates at Moore Park on Tuesday for the side's second training session of the week.
Skipper Jake Friend played down Keary's illness, saying he didn't think it was serious enough to keep him out of their preliminary final clash against the Cowboys.
"He's just a bit crook," Friend said.
"He should be right. I think he just ate something a bit dodgy on the weekend.
"He came in this morning but we told him to get out of here."
Meanwhile Tupou declared himself fit after suffering a bit of soreness from a groin injury in their qualifying final win over Brisbane a fortnight ago.
The match was Tupou's first game back after missing the previous month and the former NSW winger was seen hobbling following one of his first touches off the bench in the 72nd minute.
Coach Trent Robinson couldn't guarantee Tupou would start, meaning he could again elect to start Tupou off the bench.
"The body is going good. The groin is going good," Tupou said.
"I just tweaked a bit of scar tissue at the back end of that game. I pulled up pretty sore. But it still feels alright.
"I'm available. I trained all week with the boys, pulled up sore at some stages but in the end pulled up sweet."
