Gordon in talks with NRL's Titans
Dec 6, 2017 - 6:00 AM Sydney Roosters fullback Michael Gordon is considering a move to the Gold Coast to replace departed star Jarryd Hayne. The 225-game NRL veteran signed a one-year extension with the Roosters earlier this year but is weighing up a two-year offer to join the Titans following Hayne's move to Parramatta.
Hayne's decision to return to the Eels has left new coach Garth Brennan with money to spend and a hole to fill at No.1.
Gordon had plans to retire to northern NSW at the expiration of his current deal but has asked the Roosters for permission to explore the market given the recent opening at the Titans.
Brennan has confirmed Gordon, who made a lone NSW State of Origin appearance in 2010, is a player of interest while the club confirmed on Wednesday they were in discussions.
The 34-year-old would be a good fit, at a budget price, while his goal-kicking expertise would also be welcome in a side that struggled to convert last season.
The coach also rates the ability of Gordon to act as a mentor for emerging Titans backs Phillip Sami and Tyronne Roberts-Davis.
