Schelotto leads Crew past United

Jun 27, 2010 - 1:42 AM COLUMBUS, Ohio(AP) -- Guillermo Barros Schelotto scored a disputed goal in the 57th minute and assisted on Eric Brunner's score to help the Columbus Crew beat D.C. United 2-0 on Saturday night.

Emilio Renteria's shot hit the left post and deflected off Schelotto's right fist before he brought the ball down and calmly slotted it into the net for his fifth goal.

Renteria had taken a ball on the right side of the penalty area and flicked it over charging goalkeeper Troy Perkins toward the open net, but it hit the far upright and Schelotto was 2 yards off the line for the rebound.

In the 87th minute, Schelotto's corner kick was flicked by Steven Lenhart to the head of Brunner at the far post for his first goal.

Columbus improved to 7-2-3, and United dropped to 3-9-1.
