FCD scores two second-half goals for win at Vancouver

Apr 24, 2011 - 1:23 AM Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - FC Dallas scored two second-half goals to earn a 2-1 win at Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Major League Soccer action at Empire Field on Saturday.

Alain Rochat opened the scoring for the expansion Whitecaps in the 25th minute. After a corner kick was cleared by the defense, it was played back in and Rochat nodded the service into the top right corner, past a diving Kevin Hartman for his first goal of the season.

The goal marked the fifth time in six matches that FCD has conceded the first goal this season.

Dallas had a chance for a first-half equalizer when David Ferreira took a penalty kick, but he missed the net, wide left and his team remained down a goal. Fortunately for the Hoops, they came back in the second half to get two goals and the win.

George John scored the equalizer in the 53rd minute when he headed in a corner kick that was skipped into the area.

Eric Avila scored the winner seven minutes from time after a Milton Rodriguez dummy-play in the box gave him space on the right side. Avila then played a low, hard shot just inside the left post for his first goal of the season.

Vancouver (1-3-3), which lost for the first time at home in five fixtures to start the season, travels to Columbus for its next match next Saturday, while Dallas (2-3-1) hosts the Los Angeles galaxy on May 1 in its next MLS fixture.
