Parke's stoppage-time winner sinks K.C.

May 22, 2011 - 4:07 AM Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - Seattle Sounders FC got a stoppage-time goal from defender Jeff Parke to edge Sporting Kansas City, 1-0, at Qwest Field on Saturday night.

After the two teams battled to a stalemate for 90 minutes, it looked like they were headed for a share of the points until the Sounders earned a corner kick three minutes into stoppage time.

Tyson Wahl swung the corner in and Parke got his head on the ball to deflect it inside the far post side netting.

The goal, Parke's first of the season, was his first since 2004 in MLS.

With the win, Seattle moves into a tie for second in the Western table, while Kansas City sits in last in the East.
