Galaxy holds off Revs for fourth straight win

May 29, 2011 - 2:23 AM Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - A second-half goal from Miguel Lopez was enough to give the Los Angeles Galaxy a 1-0 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.

The Galaxy created a good chance in the 24th minute when David Beckham's corner kick was headed toward goal by Omar Gonzalez, only for New England goalkeeper Matt Reis to tip the ball off the crossbar.

But Los Angeles (8-2-5) found the breakthrough with just over 20 minutes to play as Beckham delivered a cross from the right wing into the center of the penalty area for Lopez, who sent a glancing header past Reis.

The Revs (3-5-4) failed to create many chances over the course of the match but they put together a furious flurry in stoppage time as Zack Schilawski headed the ball off the crossbar and then had his rebound attempt cleared off the goal line by Landon Donovan, preserving a fourth successive win for L.A.
