Perez leaves it late as FC Dallas edges New England
Mar 30, 2013 - 11:01 PM Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - Blas Perez's tally just three minutes from time lifted FC Dallas to a 1-0 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday at Gillette Stadium.Dallas entered the match on top of the Western Conference with three wins from their first four matches and Perez's strike gave the resilient road side their third consecutive victory.
Both teams had a few chances to score in a very tightly-played affair, but it was the road team that was able to find the back of the net with only minutes remaining on the clock as David Ferreira lofted a free kick into the area that was chased down by Perez on the run and he was able to beat New England goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth from in close.
The late tally seemed to suck the life out of the hosts and New England was unable to find a tying goal as the Revs' winless run in league play is extended to three straight matches on the heels of their 1-0 win over Chicago to open the season.
New England returns to action on April 13 against the Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field, while FC Dallas will go for its fourth straight victory next Saturday against Toronto FC.
