FCD tries to end Gillette Stadium woes against Revs

Mar 29, 2013 - 7:59 PM Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - FC Dallas will try to end a run of futility at Gillette Stadium on Saturday when the club visits the New England Revolution.

FCD's last victory at Gillette came in 2003, while the Revs have posted a 7-0-1 mark against the Texas outfit on home soil since that time.

But now might be a good opportunity for Schellas Hyndman's side to seize three points with Dallas on a good run to start the season having won three of its first four games.

Dallas rode its luck a bit in the last match against Real Salt Lake, which ended in a 2-0 win, as defender Matt Hedges made a heroic goal line save to deny the equalizer from Devon Sandoval, allowing FCD to score an insurance tally a few minutes later.

"We're a team that we're still a little fragile when things don't go well for us," Hyndman said. "That mental strength and confidence and experience that we seem to continue to grow in [showed itself], and it's one of those things where we were able to dodge that bullet."

It hasn't always been pretty for Dallas this season, but the club has found ways to win so far this year, and did so again last weekend with backup goalkeeper Chris Seitz recording his second career clean sheet in place of regular netminder Raul Fernandez, who was away on international duty with Peru.

New England battled to a 0-0 draw against Sporting Kansas City last weekend in tough weather conditions, and although the Revs failed to register a shot on goal, head coach Jay Heaps still managed to find positives from the contest.

"I hope (fans) saw something a little bit different from us in terms of how we go out there and fight," Heaps said. "I think last year maybe this game slips away from us and maybe we lose it."

The Revs were held without a goal for the second consecutive game and have now gone 208 minutes without scoring.

Saer Sene's injury absence hasn't helped the cause, but the club will get back Jerry Bengtson after he missed the Sporting contest while away on international duty.
