Columbus claims another draw against Colorado

Jul 5, 2014 - 4:50 PM Commerce City, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Columbus Crew earned a fourth successive draw on Friday as Ethan Finlay scored in the 76th minute to help the Crew to a 1-1 deadlock with the Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

Eric Gehrig's own goal in the 59th minute handed the Rapids the lead, but Columbus was finally able to solve Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin as Finlay netted his fourth goal of the campaign 14 minutes from time.

Irwin had a big hand in the Rapids claiming a point as he did well to keep out a 25th-minute header from Justin Meram which was set up by a Ben Speas cross.

Meram nearly caught Irwin off his line shortly before halftime with a chip from 20 yards that sailed just past the top corner of the net, sending the two sides into the break level.

Columbus had the ball in the net in the 59th, but it was ruled out for offsides, while Colorado went down the other end of the field and took the lead as Marvel Wynne's cross was redirected into his own net by Gehrig.

Adam Bedell was turned away by Irwin 15 minutes from time, but Finlay was able to equalize one minute later when a deflected pass fell into his path and he slotted a shot inside the left post to snatch a point.
