Montreal ends Orlando's unbeaten run
Jun 21, 2015 - 2:10 AM Montreal, QC (SportsNetwork.com) - Orlando City SC's unbeaten streak came to an end at five games on Saturday as the club suffered a 2-0 defeat to the Montreal Impact at Saputo Stadium.Donny Toia's first MLS goal in the 36th minute had the Impact in front, while the hosts were able to survive some late pressure and add another goal in stoppage time through Dominic Oduro to give them five wins from their last seven outings.
The first real chance of the match came in the 32nd minute when Ignacio Piatti found himself at the top of the penalty area with space to unleash a shot that was tipped past the post by Orlando goalkeeper Tally Hall at full stretch.
Hall was picking the ball out of his net just a few minutes later, however, as a corner kick Marco Donadel was driven to the near post for Toia, whose glancing header settled inside the far corner for a 1-0 Montreal lead.
Andres Romero curled a shot just wide of the post in the second half as the Impact tried to add to their lead, while substitute Pedro Ribeiro threatened twice in the final 10 minutes, only to be denied on both occasions by goalkeeper Evan Bush.
Oduro then capped the win shortly before the final whistle as he caught Orlando pressing forward and scored on a shot that took a deflection off defender Seb Hines.
