Wright-Phillips, Red Bulls down NYCFC at Yankee Stadium

Jun 29, 2015 - 5:32 PM New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Red Bull New York score three unanswered goals in the second as they defeat the New York City FC 3-1, on Sunday night at Yankee Stadium.

Red Bull New York had taken just one point from its previous five outings, New York City, meanwhile, comes into the match looking for a fourth straight win following an impressive 2-0 victory over Toronto FC at BMO Field.

New York City opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Mix Diskerud sent a cross into the center of the box and Thomas McNamara headed the ball to his feet and blasted a shot into the net for a 1-0 lead.

The Red Bulls would respond early in the second half. Sacha Kljestan sent a pass into the center of the box and Bradley Wright-Phillips redirected the pass into the back of the net to tie the score 1-1 in the 47th minute.

RBN would strike again in the 52nd minute when Chris Duvall jumped kicked a Mike Grella pass into the net to push the Red Bull lead to 2-1.

In the 73rd minute RBN put the game away when Kljestan found Matt Miazga on the side of the net. Miazga turned and fired a shot into the lower corner to give RBN a 3-1 win.
