Barrett lifts Toronto FC past Revolution

May 22, 2010 - 8:16 PM TORONTO(AP) -- Chad Barrett scored in the 53rd minute to give Toronto FC a 1-0 win over New England on Saturday, extending the Revolution's scoring drought to four games.

Barrett got his third goal of the season on a glancing header off Sam Cronin's corner kick. Barrett had a chance at a second in the 72nd minute but sent his lob high.

"It was not the prettiest game you will ever see in your life," Toronto coach Preki said. "We're confident in our system, we're confident in the way we want to play. Sometimes it's not really pretty, but I'd rather win ugly than lose pretty."

It marked the second straight MLS game - fourth overall including a friendly and U.S. Open Cup outing - that New England (2-6-2) failed to score. The Revolution have not won since beating Toronto in their home opener on April 21, and have been shut out five times this season in league play.

Toronto (4-4-1) improved to 4-0-0 at home this season despite playing without leading scorer Dwayne De Rosario - who is with the Canadian national team in Argentina - suspended defender Maksim Usanov and the injured Julian de Guzman (hamstring) and Nana Attakora (hip).
