Angel scores twice for Red Bulls

Jun 27, 2010 - 2:58 AM KANSAS CITY, Kan.(AP) -- Juan Pablo Angel scored two late goals, both after long runs down the right side of the field, to cement the New York Red Bulls' 3-0 victory over the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday night.

Angel put the Red Bulls up 2-0 in the 82nd minute and made it 3-0 in the 90th, both times beating defender Aaron Hohlbein.

Bouna Coundoul made seven saves for his fifth shutout of the year and also assisted on New York's first two goals, the first a header by Salou Ibraham in the 55th minute.

The Red Bulls (8-5-0) won their third straight and dropped the Wizards to 3-6-3.

Kansas City also will lose captain Davy Arnaud to a mandatory suspension after the midfielder was given a straight red card for a reckless tackle on Joel Lindpere in second-half stoppage time.

Coundoul's assist on Ibrahim's goal was a combination of Ibrahim's opportunism, a lapse by Hohlbein and the short field at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

Coundoul's goal kick landed deep in Kansas City's end of the pitch, bounced just over the head of Holbein - who was facing away from the play - and bounced again into Ibrahim's path for a header over keeper Jimmy Nielsen.
