Dynamo, D.C. to square off at Robertson Stadium

Apr 28, 2011 - 7:17 PM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo host D.C. United in a Major League Soccer Friday fixture at Robertson Stadium.

The Dynamo, who have never lost to D.C. United at Robertson Stadium, have won three consecutive meetings with the Eastern foe. The Dynamo are currently on a five-game unbeaten run thanks to the fact that they have scored goals in the final 10 minutes two weeks in a row to get a positive result.

The most recent was an 83rd-minute equalizer from Bobby Boswell to earn a draw in Chicago last weekend.

Boswell, who played two seasons in D.C. before being traded to Houston, hopes the Dynamo can continue on their current trend and earn a playoff berth after missing out on the second season a year ago.

"When Houston had a lot of success, it was because they were winning all the home games," he told mlssoccer.com. "Any time you take care of business at home, you set yourself up for a good situation come playoff time. We have also been getting these ties on the road, and if we can keep winning at home, we are going to pick up a lot of points, which sets us up well for playoff contention."

United goalkeeper Pat Onstad will be making his first trip to Houston, where he was a major piece of two MLS Cups before retiring this past year. Onstad signed with D.C. as a coach, but is now a player coach because injuries in goal forced him out of retirement.

"It was five pretty good years of my life," Onstad told mlssoccer.com of his time in Houston. "On the field we had some great memories. Off the field we [his wife and three children] made some really good friends."

Onstad hopes his new team can find a way to rebound from its most recent fixture, a 4-0 loss vs. Red Bull New York. The shutout loss was the first for D.C. this season after setting the MLS record with 17 a season ago.

"I was proud they didn't quit at 2-0, 3-0, even 4-0," United coach Ben Olsen said after the loss. "The guys worked their tails off, and the second half I thought we were unlucky [not] to get something out of it. It's a tough night. We need to stay together. This is a process, and, right now, [New York are] a better team than we are."
