Bruin nets hat trick as Houston hammers United

Apr 30, 2011 - 2:30 AM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Will Bruin's hat trick helped the Houston Dynamo to a 4-1 win over D.C. United at Robertson Stadium on Friday.

Houston's rookie forward scored his first goal of the game in the fourth minute, and after Marc Burch leveled the contest in the 39th minute, Bruin found the net again shortly before halftime.

He then completed his hat trick in the 56th, with Cam Weaver adding a fourth goal five minutes later for Houston (3-1-3), which extended its unbeaten streak to six games.

United (2-4-1) has now conceded eight goals in its last two games and has lost three of its last five.

Geoff Cameron set up the opener with a nice through ball to Bruin, who beat United goalkeeper Bill Hamid with a low shot after getting into the penalty area.

The visitors equalized in the 39th minute when a low free kick from Burch went through the wall and into the lower right corner of the net. But Bruin responded a few minutes later when he headed home a cross from Brad Davis.

Davis played provider again after halftime as Bruin completed his hat trick by nodding home a Davis free kick from close range.

And Weaver capped the scoring in the 62nd minute when a long throw in from midfield by Houston's Hunter Freeman allowed Weaver to get in behind the United defense and beat Hamid at his near post.
