Chivas hammers Revs for second straight win

May 1, 2011 - 4:44 AM Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Chivas USA rolled to a 3-0 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday at The Home Depot Center.

First-half goals from Nick LaBrocca and Marcos Mondaini handed the Goats a two-goal lead at halftime, with Alejandro Moreno capping the scoring in the 57th minute for Chivas, which has won its last two games after starting the season on a five-game winless run.

The Revolution (2-3-3) has lost three of its last four games and was well below par on Saturday.

The scoring started in the 22nd minute with LaBrocca slipping between two Revs defenders at the near post and heading home a cross from Ben Zemanski, who then had a header saved from close range in the 35th.

But Chivas (2-2-3) doubled its lead right before the break when Moreno's cross was finished off in front of goal by an acrobatic volley from Mondaini, who scored for the first time in MLS.

New England then made an absolute mess of a clearance in the 57th minute to hand Moreno his third goal of the season with the Chivas striker pouncing on a loose ball seven yards from goal and easily beating goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth.
