Crew hope to extend streak vs. visiting Sounders

May 6, 2011 - 8:09 PM Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - Seattle Sounders FC hopes to rebound from a mid-week loss at D.C. United when it travels to Columbus for a Major League Soccer clash with the Crew on Saturday.

The Crew are currently on a six-game unbeaten run while the Sounders saw theirs snapped on Wednesday.

"It's a tough one to swallow, especially after a good win the other night," Sounders forward Nate Jaqua told his club's website after falling 2-1 at D.C. United. "We just weren't as sharp as we needed to be. It wasn't up to our performance and we paid for it."

Seattle actually was down 2-0 in the second half when a brad Evans penalty kick goal brought them within one, giving them a chance for a share of the points. But they were unable to get that second goal and suffered their first loss since March 19.

Columbus is coming off a 2-1 win over the expansion Vancouver Whitecaps FC this past weekend thanks to two second-half goals from striker Emilio Renteria after the teams played to a stalemate in the first half.

"We decided to tactically play them the way we did to drop down and let them have the ball and frustrate them a little bit, which we managed to do," Whitecaps coach Teitur Thordarson said. "They hardly had a good chance in the first 45 minutes."

But that changed after the break thanks to Renteria.

"Halftime, I came into the locker room very upset because we were definitely possessing it," the Crew's Dilly Duka told his club's website. "At times we broke through on the left but we wanted to put them away in the first half. They barricaded in. It was really annoying."

Columbus will be without midfielder Danny O'Rourke and defender Josh Williams on Saturday, while forward Tom Heinemann and defender Shaun Francis are questionable, all with injuries.

Unavailable for Seattle will be attackers O'Brian White and Steve Zakuani, while Pat Noonan is probable with a quad strain.
