Houston hopes to build on shutout of RSL vs. N.Y.

May 20, 2011 - 5:27 PM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Red Bull New York heads to Houston to take on the Dynamo in a Major Leaguer Soccer clash on Saturday.

New York currently sits atop the Eastern table, but is on a two-game winless run, including a 3-2 loss to Chivas USA at home in its last league fixture.

"We played too pretty and too sloppy," Red Bulls coach Hans Backe said after the loss. "Conceding two goals like that on set plays is too sloppy and, of course, we know exactly what we should do against set plays but it's absolutely too, as I said, too sloppy. We responded okay after being 1-0 down and 2-1 down to get it tied, but overall, it is an effort that you don't win many games in this league. You have to work much, much harder."

Houston, on the other hand, is coming off a scoreless draw with Real Salt Lake, which snapped a two-game losing streak. It hopes to shut down the high- powered New York attack the same way it did to RSL last week.

"The fashion that we [shut out RSL] was good," Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear told mlssoccer.com. "They had one shot on goal, and then Andy Williams got a shot late, but the ball position we had in the second half kept them away from goal."

The Dynamo were actually unlucky to not come away with the full points vs. RSL, having numerous chances squandered in the offensive third.

"We're pleased, but we had our chances too," Houston forward Will Bruin said. "We thought we could have stole one or got one and came away with three points, but we didn't give away, didn't make any mistakes or give up stupid goals. So we're happy with that, especially after two losses."

New York and Houston played to a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena in the beginning of April, so expect another tight affair on Saturday.

"I think you have to take practice serious," Kinnear said when asked how the Dynamo can duplicate their success at Rio Tinto this week against New York. "We know what happened on the weekend and New York is going to look to correct what went wrong last time, so it'll be a challenge."

Another challenge will be keeping new York striker Thierry Henry off the board. The former French international has finally found his legs in MLS, scoring goals in three consecutive matches.
