Houston aims to end winless skid against Goats

Jun 10, 2011 - 6:13 PM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo will be aiming to put an end to its seven-game winless skid on Saturday when the club welcomes Chivas USA to Robertson Stadium.

The Dynamo saw its winless streak extended to seven games last time out in a 2-0 defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes that saw the 'Quakes score both goals in the final 20 minutes.

But Dominic Kinnear's team will be hoping that a return to Robertson Stadium will be just what the team needs against Chivas as its tries to snap the second-longest winless streak in team history.

Houston has not been a place where Chivas has enjoyed playing over the past five seasons, with the Goats having failed to score a goal in league play over that time.

However, Houston will be missing a pair of regulars in defense with both Andre Hainault and Jermaine Taylor away on international duty, giving Chivas a chance to take advantage of a weakened defense.

Robin Fraser's team is coming off of a 1-0 win over the Portland Timbers last time out, and the coach was pleased with the intensity his team brought into its last match.

"The win is most important, but what I'm most excited about is our aggressive mind set from the beginning," Fraser said. "We have not always seen that at home and I felt like tonight, the way we came out and played was exactly the way we need to play."

Houston can't be pleased with its recent performances, but one player who could help is striker Brian Ching, who has been able to return to full training ahead of the Chivas match.

Ching has been out since May 4 because of plantar fascitis, and the injury came just a few games after he missed time with a hamstring problem, limiting him to just four matches this season.
