Crew, Dynamo hope to return to winning ways

May 31, 2013 - 6:04 PM Columbus, OH (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo and Columbus Crew enter their match at Crew Stadium on Saturday in similar positions with both sides having earned draws on the road last weekend.

Generally, a point on the road in MLS is viewed in a positive light, but both sides will be a bit disappointed that they had to settle for that point from a winning position.

For Houston, a point at Sporting Kansas City after back-to-back losses was a strong way to bounce back, although the Dynamo held a 1-0 lead until the 68th minute when Sporting's Kei Kamara equalized.

"We would have loved to get all three points," said Houston midfielder Brad Davis. "We had plenty of chances to score more goals. They had some chances, too. We wanted a win after the two previous losses, but to play at Kansas City and get a draw, you can't feel too bad. After last week's game against New England, we wanted to come here and get back to the ways we're used to playing. We came out ready to play and put together a good performance. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get more from it, but also happy at the way we played."

The match in Kansas City was the first in a stretch of four away games in the next five for the Dynamo, who have managed to score just once in their last three contests.

But the performance at Sporting will give the club confidence ahead of Saturday's match against a Columbus side that is also coming off a good outing.

Columbus has yet to beat a team with a winning record this season, but the Crew appeared to be on the verge of their biggest victory of the campaign as Federico Higuain scored in the 74th minute to put the Crew 2-1 up on Red Bull New York.

Jamison Olave's stoppage-time equalizer denied Columbus its signature win, but the club still managed to earn four points from back-to-back away games and returns home to Crew Stadium for three of its next four fixtures.

"I thought our team played really well for most of the game," Crew midfielder Eddie Gaven said after the New York contest. "It's just tough giving up a goal at the very end there obviously but at the same point being able to get a tie on the road against a very good team, I feel like we can definitely take some positives from this game and then get better for our next game at home against Houston."
