Dynamo aims to continue momentum against Fire

Jul 26, 2013 - 8:28 PM Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo will hope to continue its recent run of success when the club welcomes the Chicago Fire to BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday.

Houston slipped down the table in the Eastern Conference after a seven-game winless streak, but the team has bounced back to win back-to-back matches, taking over the fifth and final playoff spot in the East.

The Dynamo is returning to MLS play after a weekend off, which followed a 2-1 victory at the New England Revolution, marking the first time Houston won two successive games since early May.

"We've got two wins in a row now and confidence is good," said Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis. "Hopefully, we can continue to push and keep this run going. Hopefully, this is the moment in the season we can make a run."

Houston will play three of its next four games at home and the club will get back defender Corey Ashe after he was away on Gold Cup duty with United States.

Chicago is coming off of its biggest victory of the season last weekend, a 4-1 triumph over last-place D.C. United, which snapped a two-match skid.

"The difference tonight was just finishing our chances," Fire head coach Frank Klopas said after the victory over United. "We had chances the last game and it was important how we would respond. So I think this was a crucial game we were playing, regardless of where this team is in the standings. They have quality players and you can't underestimate anyone and I felt that the fast goals helped."

The Fire scored twice in the first 11 minutes of the match and didn't look back, with Joel Lindpere netting a goal and two assists in the win.

Lindpere has come off the bench in recent weeks for the Fire after spending most of his career as a starter, but he is more interesting in helping the team than whether or not he finds himself in the starting lineup.

"I don't know when I didn't play three games from the start. But that means I'm doing my job," Lindpere said. "I think I've been starting most of my career but that's the way it is. It's a team game. Like I said, I will try to find myself always to do my job and help the team. It doesn't matter if I start next game or I don't start, I really hope that we take something for the road trip from this game."
