Gomez's goal lifts DC United over Red Bulls
Oct 21, 2006 - 11:43 PM EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Christian Gomez scored the lone goal of the game at the 77-minute mark as DC United defeated the New York Red Bulls, 1-0, in an opening-round game of the MLS playoffs.DC United can clinch the home-and-home series in Washington on October 29 with a win or tie.
Gomez netted the game-winner when he took a pass from Jaime Moreno and chipped the ball over New York goaltender Jon Conway from 10 yards out.
Conway finished with four saves and DC United goalkeeper Troy Perkins recorded three. Both clubs had four shots on goal.
