Sasha's brace lifts Internacional past Coritiba
Sep 29, 2014 - 4:01 PM Porte Alegre, Brazil (SportsNetwork.com) - Eduardo Sasha scored on either side of the intermission on Sunday as Internacional rolled to a 4-2 victory over Coritiba at the Estadio Beira-Rio.Internacional entered the clash in fine form, riding a three-match winning streak and it took just minutes for the home side to open the scoring as Andres D'Alessandro found the back of the net.
But five minutes later, Leandro Almeida buried the equalizer for Coritiba.
Internacional then opened up a comfortable two-goal margin as Alex scored in the 31st minute and Sasha collected his first of the day two minutes before the intermission.
Coritiba pulled within one in the 63rd minute through a goal from Ze Eduardo which left plenty of time to chase a potential equalizer, but Sasha put the result away with his second goal of the day 18 minutes from time.
The result lifts Internacional to within six points of league leaders Cruzeiro, while Coritiba drops to the bottom of the table on 23 points.
Also in Brazil on Sunday, Diego Tardelli and Guilherme found the back of the net as Atletico Mineiro earned a 2-0 win over Vitoria, while Cleo converted a penalty kick in the 41st minute to lift Atletico PR to a 1-0 win over Corinthians.
Emanuel Biancucchi scored a pair of first-half goals as Bahia claimed a 2-1 win over Flamengo, while Hernan Barcos netted twice in a 2-0 win for Gremio over Botafogo.
Claytinho hit for a pair of goals and Marcao added a third goal as Figueirense eased to a 3-1 win over Palmeiras, while David Braz and Geuvanio found the back of the net to lift Santos to a 2-0 result over Goias.
On Saturday, Fluminense knocked off Sao Paulo, 3-1, Chapecoense and Criciuma played to a 1-1 draw and Sport Recife and Cruzeiro finished scoreless.
