Aloisi laughs off A-League 'panel beater'
Feb 17, 2017 - 5:07 AM John Aloisi has a simple message for self-proclaimed "panel beater" Dino Djulbic and his Perth teammates if they want to kick Brisbane into A-League submission on Saturday.Good luck.
"You know what, they have to catch Jamie (Maclaren) first," Aloisi said.
Veteran defender Djulbic raised eyebrows on Thursday when he admitted he "kicked people for a living" and was proud of it.
It's a pointer to the kind of physical style the Glory have become renown for, and what Aloisi is expecting the Roar to encounter once again at nib Stadium this weekend.
"Physically, last year, we probably struggled against Perth," he said.
"This year we played against them in pre-season for a reason and we beat them.
"We played them up here and we beat them.
"Physically, we're fine - we don't fear anyone physically or football-wise.
"We've got a squad now that can deal with physicality."
And Brisbane also have a striker with a 100 per cent strike rate against them.
Former Glory frontman Maclaren has faced his old side three times since leaving at the end of the 2014-15 A-League campaign and scored on every single occasion - as well as the 4-0 pre-season victory Aloisi was referring to.
"Jamie Maclaren loves playing against Perth Glory, for whatever reason," he said.
"I don't ask him, I just let him go out there and score goals.
"Hopefully he does the same again."
