Results not far away for Victory: Williams
Nov 17, 2017 - 2:07 AM Melbourne Victory defender Rhys Williams doesn't want to beat Perth Glory because he wants to get one up on his old side, he's just desperate to get an A-League win on the board.Williams, 29, will face his former teammates for the first time since his off-season move when the Victory take on the Glory at nib Stadium on Sunday night.
The Victory are off to their worst A-League start, sitting ninth without a win six rounds into the season, but Williams is taking a glass half-full approach as his side looks to break a run of four draws.
"We're not frustrated, we've been playing quite well, but it just hasn't come off," Williams told reporters on Friday.
"No confidence has been lost at all ... we all feel great. We're still laughing and joking in training.
"We haven't won but we're four games undefeated as well.
"It's been a disrupted start to the season, but we've got those (international) boys back now for hopefully an extended time."
Socceroos Mark Milligan and James Troisi are in the frame to return to the line-up, but New Zealand international Kosta Barbarouses will be rested after returning from Peru.
Milligan was given the day off on Friday after he played 89 minutes of the Socceroos' 3-1 World Cup qualifying triumph over Honduras on Wednesday night.
Williams, who spent over a decade with English club Middlesbrough, has missed out on two World Cups through injury.
But his current form suggests he will be in the conversation for a spot in the Socceroos squad for next year's tournament in Russia.
"Nothing changes (for me), a lot can happen in that amount of time," he said.
"I'm the first to tell you that after missing two World Cups, but I need to focus on my form here, staying fit and enjoying my football.
"(Hopefully) things will fall into place."
