Bologna, Fiorentina victorious in Serie A

Dec 22, 2017 - 7:28 PM Mattia Destro has scored twice Bologna as they snatched a last-gasp 3-2 win at Chievo in a weekend opener of the Italian Serie A.

Destro headed in a corner kick for Bologna's early lead and profited from a defence blunder to net the winner in the 90th.

Roberto Inglese levelled with a corner-kick header in the 32nd minute.

A tap-in from Simone Verdi put the guests back in the lead five minutes after the restart.

Bologna then had midfielder Andrea Poli dismissed for a second booking on 81 minutes.

The hosts levelled again when Fabrizio Cacciatore drove the ball home in at the far post on 85 minutes before Destro's decisive moment.

Bologna sit 10th with 24 points; Chievo are 13th on 21.

Fiorentina won 1-0 in Friday's late game at Cagliari courtesy of a late goal scored by substitute Khouma Babacar.

Young forwards Giovanni Simeone and Federico Chiesa came close in the first half as the Florence side held the upper hand at the Sardegna Arena.

Senegal striker Babacar came on in the 70th minute for Frenchman Cyril Thereau and flicked in after a header by Simeone with eight minutes left.

Cagliari striker Joao Pedro received a red card in stoppage time for a foul on Chiesa.

La Viola advanced to seventh place on 26 points, while Cagliari stayed on 17 with a three-point buffer to the drop zone.
