Dream push past Mystics
Jun 2, 2013 - 10:35 PM Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Angel McCoughtry led a balance scoring attack with 15 points and the Atlanta Dream surged past the Washington Mystics, 73-63, on Sunday at Verizon Center.McCoughtry added six rebounds, five assists and four steals to help the Dream earn their third straight win to open the season. Erika de Souza scored 14 points while Sancho Lyttle tallied 12 with nine boards in the victory.
The Mystics trailed 39-26 at the break and cut their deficit to four late in the third, but saw the game fall completely out of reach when they made just one of their next nine shots.
Washington shot 39 percent for the game and was backed by 15 points from Crystal Langhorne and 14 points from Ivory Latta.
Langhorne capped an 8-0 burst for the Mystics with a pair of scores to reduce their margin to 48-44, but Atlanta ripped off a 16-4 run to put the contest in hand.
McCoughtry's three-point play in the fourth moved the Dream's lead to double- digits and Jasmine Thomas topped off the run with a triple and a shot off the glass.
Washington never came closer than eight points the rest of the way.
