Mercury scorch Sparks
Jun 15, 2013 - 4:30 AM Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Diana Taurasi poured in a game-high 34 points and DeWanna Bonner chipped in 23 points and 12 assists to lead the Phoenix Mercury past the Los Angeles Sparks, 97-81, on Friday.Charde Houston added 15 points and Brittney Griner finished with 10 points and six rebounds in just of 15 minutes for the Mercury, who improved to 2-3.
Kristi Toliver led five Sparks players in double figures with 18 points and Candace Parker dropped in 15 points and eight rebounds. Nneka Ogwumike notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards, while Lindsey Harding and Marissa Coleman added 12 and 11 points, respective, in the setback.
Phoenix trailed 50-48 heading into the third quarter, but outscored Los Angeles 26-14 in the third and 23-17 in the fourth to notch the win.
Griner scored six of her 10 points in the third frame.
