Atlanta takes down Connecticut
Jul 9, 2014 - 1:25 AM Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Angel McCoughtry scored 22 points with six rebounds to help the Atlanta Dream to an 83-71 win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday.Tiffany Hayes dropped in 17 points and Erika de Souza posted 13 points with seven rebounds for the Dream, who have won four of their last five.
Alex Bentley and Chiney Ogwumike each scored 19 points to lead the Sun, with Ogwumike adding 12 rebounds in the setback.
Atlanta, which improved to 9-2 at home, led 21-18 after the first quarter and pushed the margin to 39-31 at the break.
McCoughtry then scored six of the Dream's first eight points to begin the third quarter to increase the cushion to 47-34 with under eight minutes to go in the frame.
Swin Cash split a pair of free throws that gave Atlanta its largest lead of the night, 70-51, with just under seven minutes left in the game as the Dream cruised to the finish.
