Sky top Fever in Game 3, advance to WNBA Finals

Sep 4, 2014 - 1:51 AM Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Sky didn't need a comeback this time.

Allie Quigley nailed four 3-pointers and scored 24 points off the bench and the Sky advanced to the WNBA Finals for the first time with a 75-62 win over the Indiana Fever in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday.

Chicago erased a 20-point deficit to beat the Atlanta Dream in Game 3 of the semifinals last Tuesday and rallied from a 14-point hole in Game 2 of this series before winning in double overtime. The Sky also came back from a 14- point deficit in Game 1, but eventually lost.

There wasn't as much drama Wednesday.

The Sky took a 52-45 lead into the fourth quarter and never relinquished it, leading by as many as 14 in the final frame.

Chicago will face the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA Finals beginning with Game 1 on Sunday in Phoenix.

Sylvia Fowles had 17 points and seven rebounds and Epiphany Prince added 11 points for the fourth-seeded Sky, who went 15-19 during the regular season.

Shavonte Zellous was the only double-digit scorer for the Fever, netting 16 points. Star forward Tamika Catchings tallied just nine points on 2-of-9 shooting for second-seeded Indiana, which played its final game under legendary head coach Lin Dunn.

The Fever were seeking their third WNBA Finals appearance in six years.

Chicago finished 7-of-15 from beyond the arc, while Indiana was just 2-of-14 from downtown.
