Jackson's double-double leads Storm in OT win

Aug 2, 2009 - 6:47 AM SEATTLE(AP) -- Lauren Jackson had 23 points and 13 rebounds and the Seattle Storm beat the San Antonio Silver Stars 85-82 in overtime on Saturday night.

Sue Bird scored 15 points and All-Star game MVP Swin Cash had 12 for Seattle (12-7). Camille Little had 11 points and Shannon Johnson 10.

Becky Hammon had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead San Antonio (8-10). Sophia Young and Ruth Riley added 13 points apiece.

Seattle led 81-80 when Jackson was fouled and coverted a three-point play with 1:41 to go in the extra period to push the lead to four.

Ann Wauters hit a jumper 40 seconds later to pull San Antonio to 84-82.

Edwige Lawson-Wade had an airball on a 3-point attempt that was grabbed by Johnson with just under 10 seconds to play. She was fouled and made one of two from the line to give Seattle a three point lead with 8.1 seconds left.

Hammon missed a 3-point shot that went off a Seattle player and out of bounds with 4.3 to go, but the Silver Stars couldn't get another shot off.

Held to only three points the last time the two teams met in Seattle on July 7, Jackson had her first 20-point game since reaching the mark in each of the first eight games of the season.

With the Storm trailing 75-74 in the final 20 seconds of regulation, Jackson missed two shots and Cash a putback.

Hammon was fouled and made two free throws with about 7 seconds to go to stretch San Antonio's lead to three. Seattle inbounded to Jackson, who swung the ball to Bird in the right corner and she knocked down a tying 3-pointer with 3 seconds left.

Young, who knocked down a 3-point buzzer-beater to defeat Seattle at home last Tuesday, had her shot carom off the back iron to send the game to overtime.

Jackson and Bird had four points each as Seattle used a 10-4 run to stretch their lead to 51-43 with 3:13 left in the third quarter.

San Antonio pulled within three on Erin Perperoglou's 3 in the closing seconds of the quarter.

Riley's putbackwith 6:16 to go in the fourth gave the Silver Stars a 61-60 lead, their first since the first quarter. Hammon's 3 pushed the lead to four with 4:18 to play.

Jackson hit four straight free throws for the Storm to tie the game at 68-all about 40 seconds later.

Cash had 10 points in the first half to help the Storm take a 39-33 lead at the break. Riley had seven for the Silver Stars and Hammon - scoreless for nearly the first 16 minutes - added six.

The Storm celebrated their 10th anniversary in the league on Saturday night with the announcement of their All-Decade Team. Members in attendance included current players Bird, Jackson, Cash and Janell Burse, and former players Simone Edwards, Kamila Vodichkova and Adia Barnes. The remaining members not in attendance were: Tully Bevilaqua (Indiana), Betty Lennox (Los Angeles) and Iziane Castro-Marques (Atlanta).
