Mystics top Shock to end slide
Jun 30, 2013 - 11:47 PM Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Ivory Latta scored 15 point to lead a balanced scoring attack that carried the Washington Mystics to an 84-61 rout of the Tulsa Shock Sunday at the Verizon Center.Three other Washington players finished in double figures to help the Mystics snap a five-game losing streak and send the Shock to a third consecutive defeat. Monique Currie netted 13 points along with eight rebounds, while Crystal Langhorne had 11 points and eight boards and Matee Ajavon contributed 10 points.
Roneeka Hodges provided the lone bright spot for Tulsa, hitting 5-of-9 attempts from 3-point range to put up 16 points off the bench.
Washington led just 17-15 after one quarter, but closed out the first half with a 9-0 run to turn a one-point game into a 44-34 lead at the break. The Mystics then outscored Tulsa by a 12-2 margin to begin the third quarter to build a commanding 56-36 advantage midway through the period.
The Shock shot a woeful 2-of-16 from the field and managed just nine points in the third quarter, with Washington taking a 65-43 lead into the final frame.
