Delle Donne leads surging Sky over slumping Liberty
Jul 18, 2013 - 5:11 PM Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - Elena Delle Donne had 23 points and six rebounds to lead the Chicago Sky to an easy 75-55 win over the New York Liberty at the Prudential Center on Thursday afternoon.Carolyn Swords added 12 points, five rebounds and five steals for Chicago, which has won four straight and seven of eight. Eshaya Murphy also had 12 points for the Sky, who jumped ahead early and never looked back.
Plenette Pierson had 11 points and Kelsey Bone tallied 11 points with eight rebounds for New York, which has dropped two in a row and seven of nine.
Chicago scored the first 13 points for the game and cruised from there. Delle Donne's three-pointer with 3:10 left in the first quarter gave Chicago a 20- point lead and with 41 seconds left Murphy's trey extended the lead to 32-7 as Chicago cruised to a 34-11 lead after one.
New York never threatened after that.
