Jul 30, 2007 - 12:59 AM By Lin Wartenberg PA SportsTicker Contributing WriterAUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) - Plenette Pierson scored 21 points off the bench to lead the Detroit Shock to a 75-73 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday.
Detroit trailed throughout the game and was down, 73-70, with 1:54 remaining in the fourth quarter when Pierson put together a seven-point run to give the Shock (20-6) its first lead of the game.
Pierson's 3-point play capped the scoring with 26.3 seconds remaining.
Los Angeles (8-16) couldn't regroup and missed two layup attempts before turning the ball over on a bad pass with 7.4 seconds left.
After the Shock's Shannon Johnson missed two free throw attempts, Los Angeles' Temeka Johnson came down with the rebound but couldn't get a shot off before the buzzer.
Swin Cash scored 16 points for Detroit, eight on which came from free throws. In all, the Shock sank 31-of-41 free-throw attempts.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin scored 16 points and Jessica Moore added 12 for the Sparks.
