Bentley lifts Sun past Fever
Jun 8, 2014 - 1:39 AM Uncasville, CT (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Bentley scored a game-high 21 points for the Connecticut Sun, who defeated the Indiana Fever by a an 88-71 score on Saturday.Bentley shot 9-of-13 from the field including 3-for-3 from three-point range and had five assists. Katie Douglas and Chiney Ogwumike supplied 15 and 12 points, respectively, for the Sun, who have won two of their last three.
Natasha Howard led the Fever with 14 points and Lynetta Kizer contributed 12 off the bench for Indiana, which had a four-game win streak snapped.
Marissa Coleman drained a three less than a minute in for the Fever, but that was Indiana's only lead of the night as the Sun outscored them 20-16 in the opening stanza and took a 45-35 lead into the half.
The Fever got within six with less than five to play in the third on a 7-2 spurt that saw Howard contribute five points, but Bentley's trey and jumper crushed any hopes of a rally as the Sun held on for good.
