Late surge pushes Stars past Mystics

Jun 29, 2014 - 10:52 PM Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Danielle Robinson scored six of her 15 points in the fourth quarter to help the San Antonio Stars come through with a 73-65 win over the Washington Mystics Sunday at the Verizon Center.

Kayla McBride added 12 points, four of which came during a pivotal 8-0 San Antonio run that turned a one-point deficit into a 66-59 lead with five minutes to play.

Washington quickly closed within one on back-to-back baskets from Monique Currie, but Robinson sank two free throws before driving the lane and scoring with 1:46 left to put the Stars up by a 70-65 count.

The Mystics didn't record a point the rest of the way in having a two-game win streak halted. Currie paced Washington with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Becky Hammon buried 4-of-6 attempts from 3-point range to lead the Stars with 17 points, with Sophia Young-Malcolm contributing 11 points off the bench to help San Antonio stop a two-game skid.

The Stars had dropped an 81-70 decision to the Mystics in San Antonio on Tuesday.
