Predators clinch playoff spot with win over Dragons

Jun 10, 2007 - 4:14 AM UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- Shane Stafford threw four touchdown passes as the Orlando Predators clinched a playoff spot with a 75-54 win over the New York Dragons on Saturday.

While Orlando (8-6) moved into sole possesion of third place in the National Conference, New York (5-9) lost an opportunity to move into the playoff picture. The top six teams in the conference qualify for the playoffs and New York is seventh - one game behind both Columbus (6-8)and Philadelphia (6-8).

The game never was in doubt for the Predators, who built a 42-19 lead by halftime.

Orlando didn't just rely on its passing game, as Kevin Nagle ran for three scores and Ron Johnson turned in a 42-yard kickoff return.

Johnson also led the team with 102 yards receiving and caught a touchdown from Stafford, who was 18-of-31 for 231 yards with an interception.

Javarus Dudley caught two touchdown passes and Jimmy Fryzel hauled in another for Orlando.

Dragons quarterback Rohan Davey was 20-of-31 with five touchdowns and no interceptions. Jason Willis had 144 yards receiving and caught three touchdowns for New York.
