Force egded by Destroyers, ends winning streak

Mar 31, 2007 - 4:33 AM COLUMBUS, Ohio (Ticker) -- The Columbus Destroyers refused to go to overtime. Instead of kicking the game-tying extra point, head coach Doug Kay decided to send his offense back onto the field.

After connecting on a two-yard touchdown pass with 14 seconds left, Matt Nagy found Marcus Knight again to convert the two-point attempt and lift the Destroyers to a 62-61 triumph over the Georgia Force.

Nagy passed for 191 yards and four touchdowns and added two rushing scores for Columbus (2-2), which snapped a two-game losing streak.

Damien Groce and Josh Bush both had 56-yard kick return touchdowns for the Destroyers, who received two interceptions from Jerald Brown.

The Force (4-1) took a 61-54 lead with 47 ticks remaining after a two-yard touchdown run by quarterback Chris Greisen. Greisen had 334 yards passing and nine total touchdowns.

Chris Jackson caught 13 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns for Georgia, which remained atop the Southern Division standings despite having its four-game winning streak snapped.
