Rangers add OFs Schierholtz and Ludwick
Feb 7, 2015 - 12:10 AM Arlington, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Texas Rangers have signed veteran outfielders Nate Schierholtz and Ryan Ludwick to minor-league contracts with invitations to spring training.Schierholtz, 30, batted .195 with seven home runs for the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals in 2014, just a season after hitting a career-high 21 home runs with the Cubs.
In eight big-league seasons with the Giants, Phillies, Cubs and Nats, Schierholtz has batted .253 with 52 home runs in 799 games.
The 36-year-old Ludwick batted .244 with nine home runs in 112 games for the Cincinnati Reds last season.
Ludwick has played 12 seasons in the majors, including an earlier stint with the Rangers. For the Rangers, Indians, Cardinals, Padres, Pirates and Reds, he has hit 154 career home runs, including 37 with the Cardinals in his only All- Star season.
